FANTASYDAYS^® successfully launched in summer 2007. Each year like-minded fans of all kinds of fiction and fantasy gather to spend two days a different world. There will definitely be something here for all age groups. People will talk about Harry Potter, fight like Luke Skywalker, look like Sailor Moon or party on like Jack Sparrow.

You might find Elphaba, the witch of Oz, in a conversation with Spiderman or travelling with the "Fellowship of the Ring" to defend the Elvenworld. Anything is possible, everything is allowed, thanks to a variety of real fanfictions. Marc Blasweiler developed the concept of FANTASYDAYS^® that took place for the first time at Satzvey Castle in summer 2007. Almost 2,500 visitors attended the event, in summer 2008 FANTASYDAYS^® had a record attandence of 5,500 visitors. In 2009 the FANTASYDAYS^® - World of Experience took place at Burg-Wächter Castello in Düsseldorf for the first time. With a visitor record of 6,200 fantasy fans, more than 30 special guests, more than 20 entertainment items and 20 workshops, FANTASYDAYS^® has asserted itself as Germany's first multi-genre convention.

Looking at the overall first impression of FANTASYDAYS^® 2009, there was positive as well as negative feedback, where the press consistently had positive things to say (e.g. Welt Kompakt, Express, Bild, Rheinische Post). Of course the event, at least as an indoor event, is very new and has to establish itself first. We also know that not everything went according to plan. We have all learned a lot about how things should be and shouldn't be, and we will be doing our best to make sure we improve things for the next time.

There was a lot of positive feedback, both from visitors, artists and other guests and we are happy to see that next to some criticism, a lot of you loved the event. We will keep refining the concept so that we can present to you even more interesting special guests, attractive presentations, innovative workshops as well as again a huge entertainment package for FANTASYDAYS^®. And now we can only say: See you all at FANTASYDAYS^® 2010 at the NOVOTEL Düsseldorf Neuss am Rosengarten.
