FANTASYDAYS – An Event for young and old. After the huge success in 2007 with nearly 2,500 visitors, the FANTASYDAYS opened its gates a second time to the beautifully Watercastle Satzvey outside the town of Mechernich. The location out of a fairytale evoked fond memories from the previous year. Friends, followers and fans of different genres visited to meet again and make new friends. Once again the extraordinary costumes of many visitors were a highlight that enriched the event. In order to see and experience all acts and entertainers, it is best to plan two days at the event. Next to fabulous live bands, exclusive guests such as John Kelly & Maite Itoiz presented their dance show “Tales from the Secret Forest” on Saturday evening. A further highlight was the new fantasy-comedy-musical-theatre play “TRIBUTE”, performed by the RING-STARS, as well as lectures by renowned authors such as Bernhard Hennen, Markus Heitz and Kai Meyer, who lured the visitors deep into a world of fantasy. Another highlight was the Costume competition. This was held on Saturday evening around 7 PM. Only participants with self-made costumes that did not infringe on copyrights were allowed to join. The costumes were judged by their quality but the performance on stage was also rated. Winners of the competition were celebrated like Olympic heroes and received a grand prize as well as Gold, Silver and Bronze Award Certificates next to two additional awards. If you want to join yourself, feel free to check the FANTASYDAYS forum for further information. Fantasy camp, amazing decoration and a great atmosphere. Fun for all ages. Once again the entire castle area was creatively decorated and amazed all visitors. The deco art was supplied by Savage-Fellowship and was designed exclusively for the FANTASYDAYS. The main attractions were the mystical Castle lake, Wonka's Wonderland, as well as a life size unicorn and of course the spectacular stage show. Anybody who enjoys fantasy will love this event. Various theme camps also added to the atmosphere and carried the visitors off into a world of fantasy and fairy tales. Who could forget witnessing Darth Vader meeting a forest dweller who, in turn, runs into vampires and is finally surprised by Sailor Moon? Adding to all this, a lot of food and drink was served. All taverns, booths and food stalls produced all kinds of delicacies. All you had to do was choose between sweet fruit bread, savory snacks or genuine Italian Spaghettis by Marcellos! The choice was difficult at times. With the fall of darkness, the FANTASYDAYS opened up the Bourbonhall for the Saturday night party. In this nostaligic location, popular music of the last decades was played. In other words, everything was done to make you dance and have a good time no matter if one was dressed in medieval garments or done up for a night out. This was the complete Program of 2008: Six interesting Live-Bands with Fantasy themes played on both nights. Amon others were John Kelly & Maite Itoiz, ELANE, Amber, Akanoid, Dunkelschön and EVIAMARA. A big Fantasy Market that surrounded the entire Castle. Here one could purchase everything from an antic bow to rare collector’s items and all kinds of Fantasy Garments. A two hour Fantasy Comedy Musical Theatre called “TRIBUTE” performed by the RING-STARS. Efey, a tribal dance group from Cologne which enchanted the audience with their performance and costumes. The impressive show "TALES FROM THE SECRET FOREST" performed on Saturday and Sunday by John Kelly & Maite Itoiz. The “Wolfbrothers” that enchanted the visitors again with their well received Walking Act in over 3 meter tall costumes. Various workshops including sword fighting, acting, camp life and the art of fighting. Four in-depth lectures on the topic of “Fantasy” by the Editor Robert Vogel. A lot of „Fantasy“ camps, artists and craftsmen as well as extravagant decoration. Entertainment and games for families with children such as childrens make-up, magicians, walking acts and more. A marvelous fantasy atmosphere full of life and details to discover from interesting, to entertaining to funny. Tasty foods varying from taverns to inexpensive Fingerfood. A big party and night camp coming alive after dark with disco and DJ. The result: More the 5.500 visitors travelled to Burg Satzvey in 2008 and allowed for a much grander vision of Marc Blasweiler to be fulfilled. The FANTASYDAYS moved to Düsseldorf and became an Indoor Convention. |
